A coalition of more than 120 Jewish and non-Jewish organizations is holding the Rally for Truth, Light & Freedom, 21 December 2006, at Beth Tzedec Congregation, following Iran'srecent conference on Holocaust denial held in Tehran. Keynote speaker, Professor Alan Dershowitz, will be holding a newsbriefing before the rally in the Hendeles Chapel at the synagogue.
Other speakers at the rally include Federal Intergovernmental Affairs Minister Peter Van Loan and Ontario Attorney General Michael Bryant. Sponsoring organizations include the Office of Ecumenical & Interfaith Affairs of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese; the National Congress of Italian Canadians, the Canadian Council of Christians & Jews and the Hindu Conference of Canada. The Rally for Truth, Light & Freedom falls on the seventh day of Chanukah, the holiday which celebrates freedom from religious persecution. Organizational support for the rally is being provided by UJA Federation of Greater Toronto, Canadian Jewish Congress Ontario Region and the Holocaust Centre of Toronto. |
