There are a number of organization tracking efforts to prevent the UN’s anti-racism conference, nick named Durban II, from becoming another sham conference. This year, the Iranian regime is politically well established within the conference’s governance structure. Absurdly, this gives delegates from the bigoted regime a disproportionate level of influence, from which they can continue transforming the legal texts of Durban II from an initiative to combat racism, into an expression of racism itself. The United Nations World Conference against Racism, dubbed Durban II, is heading toward another debacle. The draft declaration for the April 2009 conference on racism, published by the United Nations at its recent preparatory session in Geneva, revives the hateful rhetoric of the 2001 Tehran Declaration by accusing Israel of committing "genocide", "crimes gainst humanity", and "a new kind of apartheid".

Despite its numerous calls for Israel's destruction, and repeated
denials of the Holocaust, Iran has been selected by the United Nations
for a leading position in a committee that will plan the 2009 UN World
Conference against Racism. "Iran is now poised to wrap itself in a UN flag as a lead agent of the
next global conference against racism, Durban II," she added, referring
to the 2001 UN conference on racism held in Durban, South Africa, which
saw unprecedented levels of anti-Zionist rhetoric and calls for
Israel's destruction.

According to UN Watch, Iran was demonstrably acting in bad faith and applying a double standard by making invasive, repetitive and onerous demands of the Canadian Council for Israel and Jewish Advocacy (CIJA), of the kind made of no other NGO. By their actions, Iran and its allies effectively rejected CIJA's application.
